DIVERSITY VISA LOTTERY (DV LOTTERY - GREENCARD LOTTERY)
Diversity Visa lottery is a program, which is conducted by American Government officially to give Permanent Resident
Visas to people of the countries which have less Immigration rate to the USA within the last years.
This is a Free to apply visa lottery program but it is covered by very strict rules. Participating applicants must note that
they are in the process for applying for a US immigrant visa. So they must give all the required information perfectly and
they must be true too. Other wise in the later stage they may be disqualified, some time loosing the heavy visa fees too.
Those DV lottery winners will be selected by computer operated random name selection. In the past years the lottery
was written and submitted by using normal postal service by the applicants.
In recent years State Department has changed the DV lottery application process in to a electronic E-DV entry program and it can be participated only through computers connected through the Internet to prevent fraud applicants.
To Apply,
- You must be born in an eligible country.
- Must have reached legal age limit.(Normally more than 18.)
- Must have completed 12 years of education successfully, including primary and high school education. Or must have 2 years of work experience within the last 5 years after completing 2 years of technical education/training to perform that job.( See American Government's DOL "O*NET database" for which jobs qualify.)
- In this dv lottery an eligible unmarried person can submit only one application.
- If married, the person must supply details of spouse and all unmarried children of the age under 21, along with their individual photos.
- Photos must be according to specification given in the DV Lottery instructions and must be uploaded along with the application as digital photo file.
Also, if you don't know how to apply, you can get other's services. But they can't guarantee that you can be a winner. It is not necessary to be a married man to participate in the US visa lottery program.
Winners will be selected by computer random draw and will be notified by Postal mail around May to July each year, with further instructions. Email, fax or phone will not be used to announce the winners.
Nearly 100,000 entrants will be selected and notified and from them, 50,000 will be selected for to issue the visa.For DV Lottery, 2011 Diversity Visa Lottery, (DV 2011), 12.1 Million people around the world sent qualified E-DV entries, as per the State Dept announcement. 100,600 people were selected for the DV 2011 US visa lottery program as winners. In this Lottery, Applicants whose names will be selected randomly by computer will be eligible to apply for one of 50,000 permanent resident visas made available annually to persons from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States of America. As for the State Dept In its announcement, It warned that there have been "several attempts" to defraud Diversity Visa Lottery entrants. Winners were notified by postal mail between May and July 2010 and only by the Department of State's Kentucky Consular Center, the State Department said. "No other organization or company is authorized by the Department of State to contact winning entrants."

It was further informed that Notifications mailed from the Kentucky Consular Center will provide further instructions,
including information on fees connected with immigration to the United States.
DV 2007, in the year 2006 held Visa lottery DV 2007 attracted 5.5 Million people.
DV 2008, in the year 2007 held Visa lottery DV 2008 attracted 6.4 Million people.
DV 2010 was submitted with nearly 13.5 million people and nearly 102,800 people were selected by the computer as winners and were notified to issue 50,000 available immigrant visas under the DV 2010 program.
