DV 2011 diversity visa lottery or Green card lottery is the one which was held in the year 2009. The diversity program is annually held to accept entries to issue 50,000 permanent resident visas which allow the holders to work and live in the USA. The American Government’s state department annually conducts this green card lottery and it is endorsed by the American government.
To maintain the diversity of the people living in the USA, this program offers immigrant visas to people from countries which are sending less than 50,000 people to USA within the last 5years are allowed to participate in the diversity visa lottery. The allowed country name list will be available from the state department at the time of the online lottery applying period.
So those who want to participate in the lottery must be born in an eligible country. They must have successfully completed high school certificate after following 12 years of education including higher and lower school and should have successfully passed the compulsory subjects too or must have two years of work experience within the last 5 years in an occupation after studying/learning it for 2 years and it should be a job accepted by the DOL.
People who were born in these countries are not eligible to participate in the DV 2011 American Green card lottery. BRAZIL, CANADA, CHINA (mainland-born), COLOMBIA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, ECUADOR, EL SALVADOR, GUATEMALA, HAITI, INDIA, JAMAICA, MEXICO, PAKISTAN, PERU, PHILIPPINES, POLAND, SOUTH KOREA, UNITED KINGDOM (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and VIETNAM.
Persons born in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Taiwan are eligible.
Those who want to participate in this lottery must give their personal details and a photo of them in the digital file format as instructed in the DV instructions.
Married person must include spouse and eligible children along with their individual images and their personal details. The application form is only available in the American Government's official web site in English language and it will accept entries in the announced 60 days period only. A person can submit his/her own entry online or can use another person or law firms or visa offices to submit their entry. No one can improve the chance of the selection. It is totally luck.
It is important to take notice that one person can apply only once for the DV 2011 as the primary applicant. If applied more than once all the entries will be rejected without giving notice to the applicant. After the application submitting period a computer will select nearly 100,000 applicants randomly and they will be announced by regular postal mail to further processing for the visa.
This selection will not give away with visas but will give a chance to apply for the PR visa and the selected people must proof their required eligibility to obtain their visas.
Only American Government is offering this visa lottery. There is no UK visa Lottery or Canada visa lottery or Australian Visa Lottery. If you receive any e-mail saying about this kind of visa lotteries, don't believe them.
The lottery dv2011 is in the process of selecting the winners. Those who are selected will be notified with further instructions in the months of May - July 2010 with further instructions on how to proceed with the visa application.
