DV 2010 Diversity Visa Lottery.
DV 2010 is the official American diversity visa lottery program which was designed and run by the American Government to issue 50,000 diversity visas in the fiscal year 2010. These diversity visas will be issued to the people who are natives of those countries with less immigration to the USA. Participants in this DV 2010 lottery must meet the eligibility requirements as instructed by the U.S State Department for the Education/Work experience as given in the DV-2010 instructions to get the visas.
US Visa lottery and Green card lottery are other names for this popular visa lottery program and those people who get these visas under this program are allowed to live and work permanently in the USA. Also LPR status will allow them to become American citizen after living continuously in the USA for certain years. Further more those winners in this green card lottery program must show their medical fitness, police clearance and a person to sponsor them from the USA at the time of their visa interview.
Millions of people do apply for this visa lottery through the American web site each year. Before 2003, the lottery did accepted paper entries and now only electronic entries are allowed through the internet which is called as E-DV entry form.
In the year 2008, State department did allowed the KCC to conduct the diversity visa lottery, dv 2010 to accept entries from the eligible people from all over the world. The entries were accepted for a period of 60 days from 2nd October 2008 to 1st December 2008.
Applicants were requested to enter their details and their recent photograph's as digital file through the American Government's official web site. There are eligible countries and non eligible countries name list. Last year Russian born people and Kosovo born people were included in the eligible country list.
For the DV 2010 visa lottery program, all the selected winners were notified by the postal mail from May to July 2009 and they were instructed how to proceed with the visa application.
Visa interviews and changing of status were started on 1st of October 2009 and the program will be closed officially on 30th September 2010. As of July 2010 all the visas are exhausted and only Ethiopia dv 2010 visa lottery winners have the visa lottery interviews up to case number 26,350 in August.
There is no fee for to submit entries to the lottery by yourself, if you get assistance from law firms or visa offices you have to pay their service charges which may vary according to their services.
Winning the lottery will not give away the US immigrant visa.
But it will allow the winner to apply for an immigrant visa to the USA
Later the winner must pay the non refundable visa fees of US$ 755 to the consular office on the day of the visa interview and must face the interview and proof their eligibility. If for any reason the visa is refused the visa fees will not be returned.
DV 2010 US visa lottery was closed for to submit applications in the year 2008.
